Unretouched Before & After Photos of Joan Crawford
October 23rd, 2007 by Scott Marks

After Joan finished beating her kids with Bon Ami, it looks as if she used some of the leftover cleanser on her face!
It took more than just lanolin and low key lighting to add years to an actresses’ complexion. Before going under the knife became the rage, this is how stars in the thirties altered their public appearance. Legendary studio photographer/pixel surgeon George Hurrell knew what it takes to sell glamour.
Hurrell’s way of thinking was simple, “Shoot for the sex angle first. You should try something else only if that fails.”
Francois Truffaut once noted that as she aged, Joan Crawford became more masculine. Judging by the unretouched photo, Joan had a head start on hard living.
Sandblast the freckles and sun-baked complexion, eliminate the laugh line, and rough and tumble Joan becomes downright coquettish.

The greatest advocate of child abuse. Ever.
LOL this is almost laughable…although poor Joanie did indeed have millions of freckles after baking herself in the California sun…she did not begin to age until well in her late forties daaaaaaahling
Joan’s not wearing any make-up in the untouched photograph, therefore, almost any movie star of the past and current times would be showing similiar flaws in their complexion as Joan’s face displays in the first photograph. However, this was Hurrell’s technique.
