First Look: Images from Angelina Jolie’s upcoming WANTED

My first impression was Mrs. Smith after the divorce; another synthetic exercise in spraying bullets and sexy attire.

I breathed a sigh of relief after a check of the specs revealed Timur Bekmambetov at the helm. Not that Night Watch or Day Watch heralded the second coming of Dario Argento. At least Bekmambetov possesses a sense of style, a flair for graphic brutality and the ability to put together an action film. In other words, everything Doug Liman lacks.

The record shows that Ms. Jolie hasn’t appeared in a wholly watchable film since Original Sin. At least we were spared another grieving wife or, even worse, Tomb Rader 3.

Wanted, which co-stars James McAvoy and Morgan Freeman, is scheduled to open March 28, 2008.

For the life of me, I could not get through “Daywatch” I bought a copy at Hollywood Video for $8 and tried during the holidays.
Can any action director use a tripod nowadays?

Tripod is to action films what melody is to hip hop: a dirty word.

Wait till you see “Cloverfield.” They should sell Dramamine at the concession stand.

No “Cloverfield” for me. Remember the good ol’ days when movies use to have carefully composed compositions? Now let’s hand hold the camera and shake it all about, do the hokey pokey and turn yourself around. THAT’S what it’s all about!!!
To quote my good friend Charlie Brown, “Sigh!”.
