“IN SQUEEZE PLAY — Chuck Connors, Baseball’s gift to the motion picture screen, goes to bat to score with a top featured role in Warner Bros.’ ‘South Sea Woman,’ forth-coming Burt Lancaster and Virginia Mayo co-starrer. In the romantic comedy Connors plays a marine pal of Lancaster and the impatient fiance of Miss Mayo. A gay stag film from the 1950s was passed around purporting the big blonde fella in the Marine uni was none other than Chuck Connors.
Any truth?
I have seen this film, and yes, it is absolutely him. He looks like a teenager, maybe 15 or 16, and it was shot outside. There was no dialogue, it looks like a home movie, and I would say it was earlier than the 50’s, because he was so young. You know what a unique face he has, it could not be anyone else.
Are you sure that you’re not confusing him with Mike Connors, TV’s “Mannix?” After all, his nickname was “Touch.”
Yes, Scott, I am “sure”.
It was not Mike.
It was Chuck.
