Chicago basketball star Scottie Pippen and his 6 Footer…Sandwich
September 9th, 2008 by Scott Marks
WTF? Why is there a sports related post on EC? Didn’t Marty teach us all that anything with a ball is no good? When they paint the enemy in such a hilarious light, and repeatedly interrupt The Late, Late Movie with the damn thing , even a die hard sportsaphobe like myself had to take notice. No doubt Marty would applaud the way Scottie’s writers smuggle sexuality into this seemingly innocuous fast food ad.
Thank God that I wasn’t the only one to archive a copy of this Freudian 1991 TV spot for Mr. Submarine. This defining moment in Chicago television history finds “Chicago Basketball Star” Scottie Pippen having a foursome with two Luvabulls and a well-endowed sub sandwich.

Double dribble, girls and plenty of ball-handling!
“This is one six-footer I can’t handle one-on-one. Ladies, let’s have a party!” Imagine the possibilities of a submarine sandwich that comes with its own drink.
To make sure that no one misses the subliminal implications, a phallic sub being dunked into a soft, annular net closes the piece. Be sure to freeze the shot of Scottie sitting cross-legged on the court and biting into his footlong.

Quiet, genius at work!

Dashing through the snow a minivan crashes into Chicago’s WLS-TV
December 24th, 2007 by Scott Marks

A mental patient did a couple of u-turns on State St. before plowing his minivan into WLS-TV’s studio Sunday night.
The crash occurred about two minutes into last night’s 10pm news broadcast. No one was hurt inside or outside the studio.
The driver, Gerald Richardson, was arrested and charged with reckless driving and failure to have vehicle insurance.
The studio has been cursed since the early 70s when they showed John Ford’s 123 minute The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance in a 90 minute (actually 72 if you readjust for commercials) slot.
If nothing else, it was great to see Hosea Sanders’ big grinning kisser again.
Watch anchorman’s reaction…..
