KPBS Film Club reviews 5 New Movies: TWILIGHT, QUANTUM OF SOLACE, MILK, JCVD and SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE

November 27th, 2008 by Scott Marks

It’s pouring in San Diego and normally this type of brutally inclement weather is conducive to a post-feast screening. Unless you’re going to see Rachel Getting Married (which I did for the second time last night) or something else that’s been hanging on in theatres for the past month, stay home and watch a DVD. (No sports!) Here’s four good reasons not to go to the movies today and a great one to hazard a few rain drops and head to Landmark’s Ken Cinema.

Happy Thanksgiving, folks! Enjoy the conversation.

KPBS Film Club airs today

Isn’t this supposed to be that special time of year when the kids are back in school and it’s safe for adults to once again return to the movies? You could sure fool me.

This month we review (in order of preference) In Search of a Midnight Kiss, Choke, Righteous Kill, Burn After Reading and fan boy crap Sukiyaki Western Django. The good news is that I won’t be alone in my dislike of the new Coen Bros. picture. Beth sat behind me at the screening and was laughing like a mental patien, but Tom was not impressed. Should be interesting, and if it’s not, watch The View.
