“Joker” arrested for stealing Batman memorabilia from Michigan movie theater

July 28th, 2008 by Scott Marks

Heath Ledger died for your sins!

The Smoking Gun reports that a 20-year-old man dressed as the Joker was arrested earlier today by police in Three Rivers, Michigan for attempting to steal Dark Knight posters and memorabilia from a movie theater lobby.

When I used to steal posters from theater lobbies, I never once considered dressing up as a character from the movie. Imagine me dolled up as Mongo from Blazing Saddles or sporting a Travis Bickle mohawk from Taxi Driver.

Police were called to a disturbance just after midnight and discovered the theater staff restraining Spencer Taylor, who was decked out in his finest Joker regalia. Taylor was booked on felony larceny and malicious destruction of property. Wait till the boys in Three Rivers Penitentiary get a load of him!

‘Tin Goose’ airplane used in Jerry Lewis’ “The Family Jewels” still soaring after 79 years

The ‘Tin Goose,’ a Ford Tri-motor civil transport airliner, was first produced in 1925 by Henry Ford and continued until June 7, 1933. As of 2007, only 18 of the original 199 Ford Tri-motors exist, five of which are flyable.

So much for culling information from Wikipedia. The only thing I know about airplanes is that when I am on one, there is without exception a terrible in-flight movie that only adds to my mal de mer.

What I lack in aviation awareness is more than compensated for by my encyclopedic knowledge of all things Jerry Lewis. One look at the photo and I knew that plane belonged to Captain Eddie Payton, one of Jerry’s seven nutty incarnations in The Family Jewels.

The 79-year-old Ford Tri-Motor, piloted by veteran airline pilot Cody Welch, will make a personal appearance at the MBS International Airport in Midland, Michigan Aug. 18-20. The nine-seat airplane, number 146 of the 199 Tin Geese built, is the one that was used in the Lewis film. For $50.00 you can take to the skies in one of the nine passenger seats and $100.00 puts you in the cockpit next to pilot Welch.

In addition to a thrilling bird’s eye view of Midland, the in-flight feature will be Sustenance starring Anne Baxter and Gerald Mohr. For more information visit OurMidland.com.
