KPBS Film Club reviews 5 New Movies: TWILIGHT, QUANTUM OF SOLACE, MILK, JCVD and SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE

November 27th, 2008 by Scott Marks

It’s pouring in San Diego and normally this type of brutally inclement weather is conducive to a post-feast screening. Unless you’re going to see Rachel Getting Married (which I did for the second time last night) or something else that’s been hanging on in theatres for the past month, stay home and watch a DVD. (No sports!) Here’s four good reasons not to go to the movies today and a great one to hazard a few rain drops and head to Landmark’s Ken Cinema.

Happy Thanksgiving, folks! Enjoy the conversation.

KPBS Film Club to review 5 new movies tomorrow

November 25th, 2008 by Scott Marks

With Thanksgiving upon us, how fitting that this month’s Film Club of the air should review a bunch of turkeys. I really shouldn’t be so presumptive having only seen three of the films. With Milk, Slumdog Millionaire and JCVD under my belt, I’m off to Reading’s Grossmont Center this morning to catch a double-bill of Twilight and Quantum of Solace. Something tells me that Jean-Claude will be the one to beat. Join Beth Accamondo, Tom Fudge and the world’s most disgruntled filmgoer tomorrow morning at 10 am for reviews of these five pictures and more!
